I am a Singer and Video Director.

You have a great profession as singer, how you started it?

When i was  in my college i did perform in a music show in my college. Since that time i felt that i can sing very well, In 2008 i professionally my music career started.

Who did really inspire you to get into field music?

I am a biggest fan of Kishore Kumar singer and i always inspire with him.

What problems did you face to achieve your career?

Many problems i had to  face in my music career because most of my family members did not like music and also other hand money is a big problem  in the music field. If you have a singing talent and if you have no money so you can not become a singer because making an audio & video is a major problem in this field when you will have the money then only you will record a song & make a video.

What are results of your achievements?

I got my music result in my career that the reason now i am running my own production company because before some years i did spent in my music career that time i was learning all thing and now i am running my music company.

How do you see the work nowadays in your field easy or difficult?

I see that music is a very difficult job not an easy but still i am ding face many problems.

Do you have a favorite musical project that you’ve worked on?

Yes in these days i have done my upcoming music video project and i was the singer,video director & editor of my music video.

What are your plans for the future?

Future wise i can say now that God gives a respect to every one if we fair with our any job and we did hard work in music field before many years and inshallah future will b bright.

Do you have any advice for young people who want become in the field of media (Music/ television/ Film) ?

I want to say my young brothers do the hard work and respect the parents firstly and when they will secure with our field they will be get every thing as they want................

Interview with Ali Raza Jaffrey Great Music Producer, Composer and Pianist

My name  is  Ali Raza Jaffrey I am from a musical family of Pakistan 3rd generation into music and specially piano, guitars and singing compositions and arrangements. 


My grandfather Master Mazoor Hussain the B badge pianist for Pakistan film industry mostly worked with Master Inayat Hussain, talking about my grandfahter we have another legend of preparation era Master Bassay Khan he was the uncle of my grandfather and used to play pedal harmonium my grandmothers father used to accompany Master Barkat Ali khan on Sarangi brother of Ustad Barey Ghulam Ali Khan. 

Barkat Ali Khan then my grandmother played in the laps of Barey Ghulam Ali Khan and then comes my father his name is Azhar Hussain the one of the finest pianist of India, Pakistan and Music Director arranger right now in USA.

me and my dad had same piano teacher our grand dad.

There is my uncle of mine who lives in  Canada and   has studio and music company out there.

We all are from famous and prestigious college of Pakistan Government college university Lahore me my dad uncle my younger brother all graduated from that college. 

He is my uncle from Toronto... Jagjit Singh famous ghazal singer from India  and my uncle is a great keyboardist.

I got admission to govt college on music seat and kinship after trials in between 250 candidates. We all from Govt college are called Ravians and we are now old Ravians

My dads real brother Nadeem Ali got college role of honour in music from Govt college and is the batch mate of Shafqat Amanat Ali and Rustam Fateh Ali Khan.

My batch mates were Ali Zafar Sarmad Khosaat  famous drama director now and Amanat Ali son of great comedian Amman Ullah and Ali Rana son of Masood Rana the Pakistani Rafi at time of admission to govt college after trials the principal there interviewed us and asked questions about ragsand my grand dad was sitting beside me it was year 1995 then after doing my FSC  general sciences means stats economics and library sciences plus music initial training i came to Karachi to my dad My dad left Lahore and film industry in 1979 (The year i was born) and came to Karachi with my dad.

After death of my grand dad and departure of my uncle to Canada then hard core period started for practice of piano under my dads supervision and hard rules for more then 5 years i played piano for almost 8 hours in a day time and 6 hours harmonium in nights scales ragas piano harmonium.

I use to see my face in piano wood polish that how much i became familiar with the piano learned how to tune and repair the wires in it then he bought me my 1st keyboard after many years of requesting talking about my dad and the keyboard was Ensoniq TS 10. It was a good sequencer but with less tone variety so after ts 10 he bought me Korg Triton rack mount module and i started working here and there small recordings songs different studios. It was 2002 then did my 1st job in an animation house as a music and audio head it name was Post Amazers. There I did many commercials TV and jingles cartoon series there voice overs music and sound effects mean while i always preferred to have my own home studio which i have and i running  my  home studio for almost 10 years. Then left job for another animation house and after that joined dawn news TV as a sound designer. For channel the only sound designer did commander Safe Guard cartoon series of Pakistan music and it went global like James Bond music or else at Post Amazers then shifted my studio to market place out of home studio.

My younger brothers are also music producer's next younger to me had studio in London for many years but now he is back to Pakistan and having his studio in the same street i have at Zamzama Karachi. My  youngest brother like Justin Berber type singer and dancer and music producer

he is next younger to me his name is Qasim

Interview with Gina Rubik Great Talented Singer, Songwriter, Actress, Dancer, Filmmaker...

I am Ms.Gina Rubik, born in Budapest, Hungary, descendent of the Royal Kalderash Gipsies, niece of Cube inventor, Erno Rubik. I am a singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, filmmaker and author of upcoming novel “Famous from India to Pakistan”.

You have a great profession singing, how you started it?

It started with the folk songs of my grandmother from Transylvania, and then I studied Western classical piano and music theory, later Balkan folk singing and accordion at the American University in Bulgaria. I moved to Istanbul where I studied with Turkish and Roma songs with clarinet player, Selim Sesler. In Pakistan I became the Dhrupad vocal student of Ustad Hafeez Khan of Taalwandi gharana, then the student of son of Ustad Hussain Baksch Ghullo, Suraj Khan.

What and who did really inspire you to get into field music?

I grew up on MTV on Western rock, pop and jazz songs. Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell are my role models. In Asia I became inspired by Sufi artists like Mercandede, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Reshma.

What problems did you face to achieve your career?

The lack of sponsorship from event managers, the cancellation of live shows due to the terrorism in Pakistan, religious conservatism, the unprofessionalism of media people to promote musicians.

Who have you worked with?

I worked with Sain Zahoor, brother of Tari Khan: Ustad Shabbir Hussain Khan, Arieb Azhar, sons of Ustad Hussain Baksch Ghullo: Chand and Suraj, sons of Riaz Ali Khan: Majid, Saqib and Qasim, Transglobal Underground from UK, Eva Thompson, son of Indian film composer GA Chisti: Abbas Haider.

What are results of your achievements?

I recorded songs with Budabeat Studios in Hungary with a German producer. I introduced the first Pakistani musician to perform in Hungary: son of Ustad Hussain Baksch Ghullo. Performed live on ATV, Alite, Alhamra Qadafi Stadium, Kaps Café in Lahore and got featured my Lahori Drain the Band’s song in an Indian short film

How do you see the work nowadays in your field Easy or difficult?

Music is the hardest of the performing arts, because there are so many musicians who are talented and only a few make it to the commercial music industry. A musician cannot exist without the sponsorship of record labels and concert promoters. It is more about being a brand ambassador than being an independent artist if you want to survive from this field.

What are your plans for the future in your field?

I would like to finish my English-Urdu fusion song with Incision Films in Islamabad then make a music video of it. After this record my first album if I find a sponsor for it.

  

GINA RUBIK NIECE OF RUBIK CUBE INVENTOR IS A TALENTED ARTIST

   Hailing from Budapest, Hungary, Gina Rubik is descendent of the Royal Kalderash Gypsies with scientist father, Dr.Zoltan Perjes who worked with Stephen Hawking, author of “Brief History of Time” and with Uncle Erno Rubik who invented the Rubik’s Cube.

   Gina first came to Karachi in 2006 where she started working as an actress in the TV dramas of Sawera Nadeem and Faheem Burney with prominent actors Rubina Ashraf, Amber Wajid and Imran Abbas. Belated Qawali singer, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan one night appeared in her dream and told her to learn music and stay at his house in Lahore. Within a few days Gina shifted to 84C Model Town and started training classical vocals with late Hafeez Khan of Taalwandi. Ms.Rubik met Drain band and Shabbir Hussain, brother of tabla Ustad Tari Khan, and collaborated with them playing shows at Al Hamra Qadafi Stadium and Kaps Café Lahore. In 2008 she went to India to perform at the International Roma Day in Chandigarh and had her documentary interview filmed by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts. A year later Drain band’s song “Mera Dil” composed by the grandson of GA Chisti, Abbas Haider was featured in a Subash Ghai Whistling Wood’s short “Arjun vs. Destiny” thanks to Gina who was assistant director of the film. In 2010 Gina worked as a host at ATV 21 magazine show with model Asma Zarnab and musician Ali Noor’s wife’s sister, Sasha where she collaborated with artists like Sain Zahoor, Junaid Khan of Call Band and author Mustancar Hussain Tarrar. In 2010 Gina introduced the first Pakistani musician ever to perform in Hungary: son of Hussain Baksch Ghullo, Suraj Khan. The three successful shows and workshop resulted in Pakistani Embassy inviting Sabri Brothers and Fareed Ayyaz Qawal group to give concerts at Trafo Contemporary Arts Centre Budapest.

   Gina Rubik so far wrote three original songs in Urdu dealing with the issues of terrorism and human loss. “Yadoki kahani”, “Daishatgardika khaatma” and “Piyarka Des” are all composed by Gina and currently being recorded at music studios in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

   In 2012 Gina recorded three fusion songs with Akram Rahi, Punjabi singer at Waqar Ali’s music studio in Karachi, however, the contract with Mobilink Jazba Awaz campaign fell through.

   Despite the fact that Ms.Rubik is an artist of excellence up till this date she has not entered the commercial media, and despite her several attempts to make a descent income from her music and acting, she has not been able to find a paid project in Pakistan!

   Gina Rubik has currently completed a 30-min documentary portrait on her music and her novel in progress, titled “Famous from India to Pakistan” with filmmaker, Atif Rais Ahmed, and a 37-min interview singing a raga and reciting poetry in Saraiki language on Waseb News TV.
